The National Certification Centre

The National Certification Centre performs the role of the root certification authority for the infrastructure of secure electronic signature in Poland, entrusted to the National Bank of Poland by the Minister of Economy pursuant to the Act of 18 September 2001 on the electronic signature.

Acting pursuant to Art. 23, para. 5 and Art. 30, para. 3 of the Act of 18 September 2001 on the electronic signature (Journal of Laws No. 130, item 1450), at the request of the President of the National Bank of Poland, on the 27 July 2005, the Minister of Economy authorized the National Bank of Poland to perform the following activities:

  1. generate and issue certificates referred to in Art. 23 of the Act of 18 September 2001 on the electronic signature,
  2. publish the list of issued certificates referred to in point 1,
  3. publish the data used to verify the issued certificates referred to in point 1,
  4. publish the list of revoked certificates

and entrusted the National Bank of Poland with keeping the register of qualified certification service providers referred to in Art. 30, para. 2, subpara. 1 of the Act of 18 September 2001 on the electronic signature.
